Thank you guys for all your help and suggestions. With starting fluid and turning the distributor, I got her running again. Haven’t attempted to time or tune properly yet, but holy shit it runs. I honestly didn’t think it was gonna start.

Today is a good day

Ok so if twisting the distributor helped then really go over any items on the timing belt. In my boats case it was the raw water pump seizing up that would cause it to jump timing. I’d move the distributor and be ok again. After the 3rd jump I ran out of distributor adjustment and had to replace the pump and retime the motor. Good luck happy to hear it purr.

Timing, the distributor had to go 3/4 of the way of its travel anti-clockwise to start trying to fire,  and fiddled around until it would stay running, and then got it to where it would idle on its own. Super high idle, but running on its own.

Absolutely, hugely satisfying after several weekends of replacing parts and trying to start it.

It just has a timing gear run off the crankshaft, the distributor was so far off, it must’ve been the previous owner trying to get it to start, without realizing the carb was toast.

Smooth but doesn’t want to rev. I’ll fine tune it more, or my mechanic will, but it’s already running better than I’ve ever seen. Rebuilt carb and new fuel pump made a hell of a difference. Probably the new coil too

Awesome, so it wasn’t a weak spark after all (though all those new parts will help it either way!). Glad to see it going, I was getting close to coming up there!

Nope, although it definitely had no spark initially, that coil was toast. Also the fuel pump was dead. So the only things I didn’t have to replace were the points and condenser, but yeah, they’re definitely gonna help as well.
